Hello there! I’m Steven Bochinski. I’m a self-taught artist from Tonawanda, NY. I have also spent time developing my creative vision in New Orleans, Bellingham, Washington, and central Arizona.

Fueled by a lifelong love of art, travel, nature, and urban style, my artistic expression began with nature photography in Bellingham. It wasn’t until my time as a resident artist and tour guide at Arcosanti in Arizona about ten years ago that I discovered my passion for painting. Some of my biggest inspirations have been O’Keeffe, Picasso, Dali, Basquiat, Monet, Banksy, and Ansel Adams.

While living in New Orleans, I found success with my unique, drippy, glittery spirit hats, selling as many as I could make. From there, I evolved my style into a postmodern, abstract, graffiti-influenced approach, using bold and vibrant colors, spray paint, and markers to capture my feelings and thoughts on canvas.

Much of my recent work is inspired by facing the challenges of aging and disease among my loved ones here at home. The colors, rhythms, and patterns in my art are my way of processing these life-changing events.

My process often involves collecting a palette of colors for days, weeks, or even longer, until a critical mass explodes onto the canvas. I love incorporating old computer keyboards and other techno objects into my pieces to reflect the ever-present digital matrix in our lives.

My passion for the arts and creative thinking drives me every day. As an artist, I enjoy pushing boundaries and exploring new perspectives. So, welcome to my world, and I hope you enjoy my art as much as I enjoy creating it!
